When I saw Det John Vergona's face for the first time it was years later via finding him by luck on Facebook Oct 22 2015 -- the corrupt NYPD detective that committed the crime of coercion, fabricated police reports lied in police reports verbally violently threatened me yelled over the phone if you don't drop charges I will arrest you.

An NYPD sergeant was disciplined for “poor judgment” for prematurely closing the investigation into the 2013 beating of a black man in Brooklyn by members of a Hasidic security patrol who shouted gayslurs, The Daily News has learned.
Sgt. Ivan Furda, filed the initial report on the assault of Taj Patterson, 25, who was walking down Flushing Ave. in Williamsburg on Dec. 1, 2013 when he was set upon by a gang of men shouting anti-gay slurs. Patterson suffered a broken eye socket and a torn retina that left him blind in one eye.
Furda inexplicably marked the case closed — meaning that valuable time may have been lost in cracking the case.
The closed report contained contact information for four witnesses and two license plate numbers that may have provided leads to Patterson's attackers.
Furda was eventually transferred out of the90th precinct and docked 10 vacation days, the police source said.
“That's a pretty significant penalty,” the source added.
Critics have suggested that the case was closed because of influence from member of Williamsburg’s powerful Hasidic community, including the Shomrim volunteer security patrol the suspects are believed to have ties to.
“The sergeant should not have closed it out at the patrol level,” said Deputy Commissioner Stephen Davis, the NYPD’s chief spokesman. “There is no question it was initially misclassified. It was poor judgment, but we don't believe he had any intention of covering it up.”
Patterson’s lawyer, Andrew Stoll, disagrees.
“The sergeant closed out the investigation for improper reasons,” Stroll said. “What possible justification could there be? It's either one officer's rank racism — or a connection to the Shomrim.”
About 24 hours after Patterson was beaten, the precinct’s Crime Analysis sergeant in the precinctreviewed the case and concluded it had to be reopened, officials said Friday.
She took her concerns to the precinct commander the next day and he agreed that the case should be fully investigated.
The detective squad was notified and the Hate Crimes Task Force was called in. The investigation began in earnest about 48 hours after the attack, officials said.
Detectives first went to Woodhull Hospital to find Patterson, and then to Bellevue Hospital, where he was transferred, only to find he had already been sent home. Investigators were eventually able to speak to Patterson.
Over the next four months, the entire Citywide Hate Crime Task Force — some 20 detectives — worked to build enough evidence to make five arrests.
The suspects — Abraham Winkler, 39; Aharon Hollender, 28; Mayer Herskovic, 21; Joseph Fried, 25, and Pinchas Braver, 19 — were indicted in April 2014 on felony gang assault charges.
Since then, charges have been dismissed against Fried and Hollender. The others are due to appear in court in nine days.
“It was a complicated and difficult case,” a police source said. “The Jewish detectives in the unit helped get shopowners in that community who may have been hesitant to cooperate to turn over their security video.”
Eventually, cops obtained 16 video clips that helped break open the case.
“When the Hate Crime Task Force got the ball, they ran with it,” the source said.

An NYPD sergeant was stripped of his gun and badge for refusing to talk to federal investigators without a lawyer present, sources said Saturday.
Sgt. Erez Levy was ordered put on desk duty earlier this week, officials said. The order came down after he had asked for a lawyer, sources said.
Law enforcement sources do not believe Levy, 43, is connected to the ongoing NYPD corruption investigation in which two Orthodox businessmen allegedly treated cops to lavish trips and jewels for favors such as police protection.
“We are not aware of any connection to that investigation,” said Ed Mullins, head of the Sergeants Benevolent Association. “But why would they modify him? He is entitled to representation.”
Levy, who is assigned to Patrol Borough Brooklyn South, joined the NYPD in 2002.
Nine cops — many of them high-ranking officers — have been either put on modified assignment or transferred to a different post since early April. None of them have been charged with a crime.
The NYPD began its fraud investigation in 2013, and was later joined by the FBI and Department of Justice.
Two businessmen, Jona Rechnitz and Jeremy Reichberg, are under investigation for doling out lavish gifts to top cops in exchange for favors, such as police escorts, sources have said. Neither has been charged.

I've had so little sleep this week it's just too much I'm gonna try and rest I don't know if I'll be able to blog but I'm glad that so many people are looking at this and expressed great concern that the feds are going to do damage control and shut down investigating NYPD IA fixing in favors like they did when the Ramos case bronx should've been expanded citywide and wasn't.

Guess which top NYPD official has joined the Harvard Club? None other than Commissioner Bill Bratton.
Guess who picked up Bratton’s tab — listed in his 2014 financial disclosure form as between $5,000to $47,999?
Generous fat cats from the non-profit Police Foundation.
And guess how Bratton justified the Harvard perk in his filing? “Customary practice of Foundation to underwrite these costs for NYPD Commissioners,” he wrote.
Are you kidding? Payingup to $47,999 for Brattonat the Harvard Club is hardly customary. That practice began just a few years ago under Bratton’s predecessor, Ray Kelly. Firing the foundation’s longtime director, Kelly strong-armed it into paying his Harvard expenses. (The foundation also paid $400,000 to a consultant who served as Kelly’s personal public relations man while Kelly considered running for mayor.)
Two Bratton aides told this reporter that paying his Harvard expenses is a necessary feature of the job; that the Harvard Club serves as a convenient midtown spot where the commissioner can take business guests at relatively cheap prices.
Department spokesman Steve Davissaid, “There is a business purpose to these meetings. And he [Bratton] is accountable to thePolice Foundation.”
The Police Foundation was founded as a good-government, anti-corruption measure after the Knapp Commissioner-era of police corruption of the early 1970s. But four decades later, this has changed.
One of Bratton’s many contributions to the NYPD was to turn the police commissioner into a celebrity. But celebrities tend to feel entitled. This has led over the past 20 years to some high-level schnorring — a Yiddish word that describes habitual begging with no intention of repaying.
That sense of entitlement led former Commissioner Howard Safir to accept a trip to the Oscars in Hollywood, plane fare and expenses paid for by Revlon Corp. Ditto Safir’s successor Bernie Kerik’saccepting$165,000 in free renovations from a company seeking city contracts. Safir was censured by the Conflicts of Interest board and forced to reimburse Revlon $7,100, the cost of the trip. Kerik went to federal prison.
Then there are Bratton and Kelly, piggybacking over each other in terms of both celebrity and schnorring.
In his first tour as commissioner in the 1990s, Brattonaccepted free plane trips to Colorado and the Dominican Republic, courtesy of Wall Street financier Henry Kravis, which Mayor Rudy Giuliani used as an excuse to sack him.
Kelly flew to a Notre Dame football game on Regis Philbin’s private plane. Mayor Michael Bloomberg often dropped Kelly off in his private jet at Kelly’s second home in Deerfield Beach, Florida, en route to his walled compound in Bermuda.
So how does all this look to the department’s top brass when city rules forbid officials to accept gifts worth more than $50?
Is it any wonder that chiefs and inspectors accepted plane trips and other gifts from private citizens of dubious character, as the current federal investigation has revealed?
And what of the rank and file, who, since the Knapp Commission, can’t even accept a free cup of coffee? They see the top brass accepting favors while they earn what they consider to be minimum wage. God only knows what goes through their minds and what is going on out there in precincts all across the city.

PUT UP OR SHUT UP. The citizens of New York State owe a debt of gratitude to U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara for bringing to justice the heads of former state legislators Sheldon Silver and Dean Skelos as well as a host of other crooked legislators.
But the problem, even with someone as dedicated as Bharara, is that prosecutors come to think of themselves as God-like. Bharara’s investigation into Corrections union head Norman Seabrook now seems focused on Mayor Bill de Blasio’s election fundraising. But if what comes out of the investigation is but a violation of some esoteric election law that no average citizen understands or cares about, Bharara is doing little more than paralyzing city government because the mayor is not strong enough politically to push back.
On the other hand, Bharara’s investigation has revealed the historically corrupt relationship between the NYPD and the Hasidic community. Maybe that is justification enough.

THE66TH PRECINCT SOLUTION. The precinct is known as Fort Surrender, after Hasids stormed the stationhouse and injured scores of cops in 1978 to protest the stabbing death of another Hasid. The term has a second meaning. When it comes to police corruption, the NYPD has all but surrendered the precinct to the Hasidics.
There is a solution. As occurred after the Knapp Commission when detectives were prohibited from arresting drug dealers for fear they would become corrupted, remove the NYPD from policing the 66th Precinct. Instead let the State Police do it. They can bring back Joe D’Amico, who recently retired as State Police superintendent in part because of Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s threat — a tweak to de Blasio — to open a State Police barracks in the city.

Two ex-cops charged with helping cover up a buddy's assault at a Bronx paint store took a plea deal Monday that will keep them out of jail — but cast them as convicted felons.
Jeffrey Regan, 41, and Marc Manara, 43, each pleaded guilty to one felony count of falsifying business records for covering up Michael Loturco's 2010 beating of Jose Ayala outside the New Palace Paint and Supply Shop on E. 180th St.
Manara, a former sergeant, and Regan, an ex-officer, fudged a criminal complaint after the assault at the behest of fellow 48th Precinct cop Christopher Scott, a union delegate with the powerful Patrolman's Benevolent Association, prosecutors say.
Loturco, the paint store's manager, had called Scott and asked him to make the case go away, the Bronx District Attorney's office charged in an indictment unsealed in 2011 — part of the wide-ranging ticket-fixing scandal in which cops were caught on wire taps quashing tickets against friends and family.
Justice Nicholas Iacovetta agreed to sentence Manara and Regan to 90 hours of community service on Nov. 4 as long as both men are not re-arrested, according to the plea terms reached in Bronx Supreme Court.

The four were busted over their alleged roles in a ticket-fixing scheme relating to a 2010 assault outside New Palace Paint and Supply Shop on E. 180th St. in the Bronx.
In addition to the felony plea to falsifying business records in the first degree, both Manara and Regan pleaded guilty to official misconduct, a misdemeanor, court records state.
Cases against co-defendants Loturco and Officer Ruben Peralta in relation to the beating and cover-up are still pending. Officer Scott is due back in court in December on his own top charge of fourth-degree grand larceny for his alleged role in the ticket-fixing scheme.
Regan resigned from the force earlier this year and took a job in the PBA mailroom, the News reported in April.
Manara retired from the NYPD over the summer, said a spokeswoman for the Bronx DA's office.
